Wednesday Weigh-In

It may be best for all of us to ignore the past two days. For the sake of honesty, I will simply say that life happened, culminating in a lot of stress eating Monday and Tuesday afternoon. I have since learned three very important lessons:
·         Don’t grocery shop emotionally.
·         Don’t keep junk food in the house.
·         Just because angel food cake is fat free does not mean it is point free.
Lessons learned. Moving on!
1.        Reiterate my goal and where I stand in reference to this goal.
·          Starting BMI: 23.8
·          Current BMI: 23.9
·          Goal BMI: 22
·          Starting Weight: 145
·          Current Weight: 147
·          Goal Weight: 130-135

Pounds Lost this Week: 1 Lbs
Total Pounds Lost: +2 Lbs
Pounds to Goal: 17 Lbs
2.             Discuss what I am going to do to achieve my goals.

W.eight W.atchers: 21 Pts Daily + 49 Free Pts = 196 Pts. Weekly.
As you can see on the tracker below, this started out very well. I ate things I love, just in smaller portions and omitting fat/calories where I could. I even gorged on Angel Food Cake for the weekend and stayed within bounds for weekly points (up until Monday afternoon). Yay me!

Next week: pull off the points total for seven days instead of five. Commit to at least two of the three exercise options every weekday – situps, jump rope, or walk.
3.        Try to motivate others to join in on trying to lose weight
Big ups to Donor Diva for introducing me to the Wednesday Weigh In!
4.        Post a healthy recipe, cooking tip, new idea for working out, photo update of my weight loss, or anything else I feel like sharing.

You may notice on the tracker something referred to as Face Salad. I have to tell you, Face Salad is one of the best things ever invented. Face Salad began with my sister, who would talk about craving a salad as big as her face. Eventually we shortened this to Face Salad. The belief about Face Salad is that is should include everything that sounded good to you: meat, beans, veggies, olives, fruit… No two people’s face salads should be the same.
Below is my very own Face Salad:
Serves two for lunch or one for dinner.
·         Heart of Romaine
·         Handful of Baby Spinach
·         Shredded Carrot
·         Julienned Radish
·         Cucumber, Seeded but not peeled
·         Deli Turkey
·         1 T Dried Cranberries
·         1 t Shredded Asiago Cheese
·         1 T Light Ranch Dressing mixed w/ 1 t California Citrus Rub
·         Fresh Cracked Pepper
Toss and consume. Mmmmmmm.

  1. Hi from ICLW. Good luck with your weight loss journey--I've been struggling with mine for a while now. But I try to remind myself that we all have off days, and what really matters is that I'm making mostly healthy choices on most days. That salad sounds delicious!

  2. Over from ICLW. Oy! Emotional grocery shopping...or shopping while hungry...gets me every time too. Your garden, though, sounds amazing! Yay for spring!

  3. Here from ICLW. Good luck on your weight loss next week! I'm also working on losing weight. I did really well from April to August last year, then fell off the wagon again. Just started back this week, so hoping to do well.

I'm pleased Weight Watchers is working for you! I found it didn't really do well for me - I actually gained weight on it, even though I was following it exactly! I'm trying something closer to (but not quite) Atkins. I'm slowly cutting carbs out of my diet completely. I'm also walking, doing crunches and arm exercises with light weights.

Glad to find another blogger working on weight loss!

  4. You cracked me up with emotional grocery shopping! I'm the same!! =)

I think it's amazing that you're an egg donor. I've been battling IF for almost 2 years now (due to a uterine septum and husband's past testicular cancer). I said that if I could ever cross the infertility hurtle, that I would like to become an egg donor. Thank you for what you do. =)

  5. ICLW #60. I love the concept behind face salad! I'm imagining a big bowl of greens with veg arranged to make a smiley face on top now :)

Grocery shopping is so critical -- I say that my self control has to happen there, because if it gets in the house, I'm going to eat it.

  6. I just emotionally ate... A whole lot of dark chocolate! I do WW, too. I love the idea of face salad!

  7. I love the face salad! Good luck reaching your goal. Each individual day or week doesn't matter, it's the overall pattern that is important...: )

  8. My face salad is a plate full of crisp spinach leaves with gorgonzola, bacon, pine nuts, and poppyseed dressing. Simple but AMAZING.

  9. thanks for posting about the face salad! i am going to do it this week! i have seen the WWW around lately and want to join, but have been putting it off... looks like it's time to make the leap. thanks for the motivation and good luck with the week ahead!

  10. This is great! Good for you! I love everything you included here including your goals achievements and setbacks. I too am trying to lose some weight and have hit a plateau that I need to break through.

My sister and I share a Google Spreadsheet where we check in daily with our weight, exercise and other things in our efforts to shed weight and live more balanced lives (housekeeping takes, meal planning, etc.).

Anyway, I am proud of you to committing to this. You can do it! :)

  11. P.S. Love the Face Salad idea! I have my own version, but it isn't very healthy as besides lettuce I mostly add things like bacon bits, cheese, dressing and croutons! ;)

  12. lol - face salad, that's awesome. I'm trying to do WW too - it hasn't worked so well for me. The last time I was on it I lost 80lbs, but this time I just seem to be going up and down. My GP said that maybe I'm exercising too much. Hmmm, imagine if that was the problem. Good luck!
